Choices

Sue’s Views
One of the words I’m hearing this year is ‘Be Ready’! Ready for what? Ready for anything! This was my view yesterday as I set out for my walk. I had choices ….. stay home? ….. chance it? ….. or ….. go prepared for rain or shine? I chose the latter! With sunnies  and raincoat in hand I went and had a wonderful time. No rain! I wonder how often we miss out on things God wants to bless us with because we expect the worst. Then of course we can be overly confident and completely ignore the warning signs. The parable in the Bible about the wise and foolish virgins is a great example. The wise ones were prepared for delays while the foolish ones went haphazardly hoping someone else would help them out. You can read the story in Matthew 25. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognise the warning signs in our world right now. Like with my walk yesterday ….. we have choices! Do we bury our heads in the sand and do nothing ….. do we ignore them ….. or do we cover ourselves with the divine protection God has provided for those who acknowledge their need for it?
