My Family Tree

Sue’s Views
Many find the Bible boring ….. especially the genealogies! Lists of names that are hard to pronounce ….. and what do they have to do with me? But those lists of names prove that they were real people ….. who lived in the real world. The fact that the Bible traces the bloodline all the way from Adam to Jesus proves it’s a book of fact ….. not fiction! It also becomes my bloodline as well ….. so it’s very relevant. So when I read the Bible ….. I’m reading my history and about my family. There are some characters in there I wouldn’t want to be associated with ….. but God works through all kinds of people! There are prostitutes ….. adulterers ….. murderers ….. thieves ….. as well as ordinary folk just trying to make the best of life. It’s really fascinating when you get into it and contains some of the most amazing stories you’ll ever read. The best thing about the Bible is that it is God’s way of speaking to us personally.

One Day At A Time

Sue’s Views
It’s easy to start a New Year with a list of things to do ….. or not to do. Before you jump on another treadmill ….. think of factoring in some of your favourite things. Whether it’s seeing ‘raindrops on roses’ ….. walks in a park ….. watching a sunset ….. or catching up with a friend for coffee. Whatever restores you! And remember to take it one day at a time!

The Cure For Sin

Sue’s Views
Pride has two faces. It can make us feel superior so that we look down on others. But it can also make us feel so inferior that we pull others down to make us feel better. The Cross of Jesus Christ is the greatest leveller! No matter where you were born ….. how much money you have ….. what gender you are ….. how well educated you are ….. or how much you’ve achieved ….. we are all the same in Gods eyes. Sinners in need of a Saviour! Sin is the greatest pandemic the world has ever known because it affects every single one of us! But there is a cure ….. and it’s the Cross! Jesus paid our penalty by dying in our place and rising again. When we repent and put our trust in Him we are saved from our sins. There is no more need for comparison ….. no need to compete ….. we are all on the same page!

In All Your Ways Acknowledge Him …..

Sue’s Views
So the year is underway ….. the question is ….. ‘which way will we go.’ It’s easy to let life carry us along. The needs and expectations of others ….. or consequences of our decisions ….. can dictate how we live and what we do. The Bible gives us great advice. ‘In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.’ He sees the obstacles and the better way to reach your destination.

Unity In Diversity

Sue’s Views
Nature is a wonderful example of how there can be unity in diversity. We don’t have to look alike ….. think alike ….. or act alike to be able to live together. We are each a reflection of our Creator. Together ….. we give the world a better understanding of what He is like.

How’s Your Self Esteem?

Sue’s Views
What do you see when you look in the mirror? The image we have of ourselves is often distorted by low self esteem. It’s like looking through a filter that highlights all our imperfections and flaws. We are drawn to the lines on our face ….. the blemishes on our skin ….. and the extra weight we are carrying.  Next time ….. try to look past all that and see someone who is doing their best to live a good life ….. working hard ….. and giving to others. God’s idea of beauty is very different to ours. He is more concerned with your heart than your outward appearance!

New Year ….. New Dreams!

Sue’s Views
The beginning of a new year is often a time when new dreams are born. Maybe because we slow down and have time to think! As the year goes on ….. those dreams can become jaded and lost. A dream is like a seed. It has to be planted and watered ….. otherwise it will die. Write it down ….. talk about it ….. think of steps you can take to prepare. If it’s a God inspired dream ….. it will happen!

In The Beginning

Sue’s Views
I’ve started reading the book of Genesis this year. Genesis means the beginning! In this book we find the beginning of everything ….. the universe ….. creation ….. men & women ….. work ….. marriage ….. family ….. and sadly ….. sin! It tells us where we came from ….. and where we are going. What we were created for ….. and what went wrong. But it’s also the beginning of a journey of redemption. It’s the story of a loving Father who sets boundaries for his kids in order to protect them. But they disobey him and reap the consequences. Sound familiar? But the good news is ….. He found a way to bring them back! Everything points to Jesus ….. His own son ….. who took our punishment so we could live. It’s the greatest story ever told!

Happy New Year!

Sue’s Views
I want to begin the new year by saying ‘thank you’ to all my family, friends and followers on Facebook. You all mean so much and I am grateful for your friendship and encouragement.
As you make those New Year Resolutions ….. here’s something to think about. Rather than condemning yourself for what you’re not doing ….. or need to stop doing ….. ask yourself these questions. At the end of 2025 ….. what kind of person would I like to be? What would I like to have accomplished? What difference would I like to have made? Then work toward those goals. Expect setbacks ….. but keep pushing! You can do it!
Happy New Year to you all! May 2025 be a year of growing closer to our Heavenly Father ….. a deeper understanding of His will and purpose ….. and a strengthening faith that will see us through the challenges that no doubt lie ahead!

2025

Sue’s Views
2025 stretches before us like a blank canvas! I wonder what the picture will look like! No doubt there will be some unexpected challenges and some disappointments; but there will also be plenty of opportunities to know God more and to grow our faith. No matter what the year holds, I’m encouraged by Deut 11:11
“The land you are about to enter is a land of hills and valleys….. A land the Lord your God cares for….the eyes of the Lord are always on it from the beginning of the year to the end.”
That’s good enough for me! I can face anything knowing God is with me! And so can you! It will pass by fast so enjoy every moment! Blessings to all for 2025!!!!
