I had to laugh at this mummy sheep who kept trying to walk away from her very determined baby. We’ve all had moments like that! ‘Give me a break!’ If you are a Mum of littlies ….. you’ll identify! But I can assure you ….. it is a season that will come to an end all too soon. You’ll look back longingly at those times when you were their world. They will become independent ….. and you will know you gave them the best possible start in life. Hang in there!

Erosion is defined as ‘the gradual destruction or diminution of something’ or ….. ‘the fact of a good quality or situation being gradually lost or destroyed’. Tree roots form an underground network that stabilises the soil, so deforestation often leads to increased soil erosion. Likewise ….. when our moral standards are reduced ….. the roots that held our society firmly are weakened ….. resulting in a landslide! Our values for family ….. freedom ….. and the right to choose ….. are under attack! The operative word is ‘gradual’. It’s the constant but gradual pressure that weakens our resolve. By holding fast to the confession of our faith without wavering ….. our roots will begin to grow again and strengthen our nation!

Many of us may have watched Charlie Kirk’s memorial yesterday ….. and were amazed at the way Erika forgave the assassin. What she did was admirable ….. but also right. Forgiveness is not about letting the person off the hook. It’s not about saying what they did was ok. It’s about letting go of the responsibility of their judgement. It’s about releasing them to God. God will always do what is right ….. but if we hold onto unforgiveness ….. His hands are tied. Unforgiveness is one of the major causes of sickness, disease, violence, and family break ups to name a few. If you are holding on to unforgiveness ….. choose to hand it over to God today. It will set you free!

Every choice we make in life paves the way for the future. If only we had a fast forward ….. and a rewind button! Most decisions are made on the spur of the moment. If only we took time to think ‘how will this affect my life ….. and the lives of others?’ Thankfully ….. most mistakes can be learned from. Forgiveness and restitution can turn them into something wonderful. Don’t let shame or regret keep you on a downhill spiral. Some of the best testimonies are honest confessions of our mess ups ….. and how we turned them round!

Are you confused by what’s going on in the world? A man in the Bible by the name of Job had been through an incredibly hard time losing his loved ones ….. his income ….. and his health. He began to question God. No doubt we would all do the same in such circumstances. Is God really good? Does He care? Can I trust Him? God’s reply to Job was to ask him questions back. He asked Job ‘Where were you when I created the heavens and the earth?’ He talked about animals, insects, seas, clouds. Job was left with his hand over his mouth! He said ‘I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand on the earth. I myself will see Him!’ It’s ok to have questions. God’s answers will amaze you. Not all of our questions will be answered this side of eternity ….. but one day they will.

Some of the most successful and innovative people whom we admire ….. didn’t have a very good start in life. People like Albert Einstein who didn’t speak a word until he was 4 years old and was considered stupid by his teachers. Benjamin Franklin dropped out of elementary school because his parents couldn’t afford his education. Thomas Edison failed thousands of attempts to invent the light bulb and said,  “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” These and so many others refused to give up! They fought through the rejection and humiliation because they had a dream. Every God given dream will face opposition. Maybe you have one that seems impossible? Others may give up on you but God never will!

There are several creatures on the ‘endangered species’ list. It’s sad to see these removed from the planet due to man’s greed ….. or lack of caring. But added to that list ….. is the God fearing man or woman! As God’s principles are being challenged and changed ….. we cannot allow our standards to be compromised. We must teach them to our children ….. and live them out before them as an example. Otherwise ….. they will simply be a myth to the future generations.

The events of the past few days prove how much one person …..  who stands for what they believe ….. can influence the whole world! No doubt we all have different responses. My first reaction was shock ….. but what followed was tremendous admiration and gratitude toward Charlie. I believe he completed his assignment from God. And as many have said ….. his life will continue to influence through his videos and through the lives of those he influenced. It begged the question ‘Where do I stand in all of this?’ I believe we all have a God given purpose. You ….. my dear loved one ….. have a God given purpose that only you can fulfil. Don’t allow the ideas and distractions of this world stop you from fulfilling your purpose. You will only discover it through Jesus Christ. The one who was willing to fulfil His purpose so that you could live yours!

I remember my parents ….. as they approached their 80s ….. saying ‘ We don’t feel like we belong in this world anymore!’ This is a couple who lived through WWII and the Great Depression ….. and yet they felt like strangers in a world of increasing technology and declining morality.

We can all feel like that at times. As though the world has turned upside down and is unrecognisable. But you may be the only one that is the right way up in someone else’s ‘upside down’ world! Don’t lose heart ….. and don’t feel like you have to change to suit what feels like the majority. This world needs people who are founded and rooted in truth. Who have stood firm through the challenges life brings. Hold fast to what you know to be true without wavering!
